Guidelines for Practicing Yoga at the Studio:
DROP-IN CLASSES
Unless otherwise noted, all of our classes are on a first-come,
first - served basis and do not require any pre-registration.
PRE-REGISTERED CLASSES
If a class on the schedule has small stars beside it,
this means that pre-registration is required. Please call
the studio for more information 416-716-7589 or by email at
info@mraesyogastudio.com.
YOGA ETIQUETTE
Many people arrive early for class to sit or lie quietly
and to relax. Please roll out your mat quietly, and refrain
from chatting noisily to other students. Arriving late for
class not only compromises your experience, it also disturbs
everyone else.
Please allow yourself some time to sign-in and
prepare for class. Try to arrive 10 - 15 minutes early.
IF YOU ARRIVE LATE
If you arrive late for class, you are welcome to enter the
studio AFTER the opening meditation. Please be sure
to come in quietly to avoid distracting others. If
the class has already begun, please sit and wait on the carpeted
area. Please do not come onto the studio floor until after
the opening meditation has ended.
WHAT TO WEAR
What to wear: comfortable, lightweight clothing such as shorts,tee-shirts,
tights and stretchy workout wear. Yoga is always practiced
with bare feet.
Be certain to inform the teacher prior to class if you have
any serious health conditions such as neck, back, or joint
injuries, recent surgery, high blood pressure, pregnancy,
etc.
Many people are allergic to perfume or cologne.
Please refrain from wearing these during yoga class.
Please turn off cell phones and pagers before entering
the studio. Calls may not be made from inside the studio at
any time.
Drinking water is discouraged during yoga class.
While people often stop and drink water during fitness classes,
stopping for water during yoga is more often than not an indication
that you have gotten close to your "edge" and are
now turning away from it. Yoga is about burning up toxins
- drinking water only dampens your flame and breaks your concentration
- and the concentration of those around you.
Yoga is about uniting the body, breath and mind.
Ideally, we breathe through the nose, with the tongue and
jaw relaxed, during yoga practice.
Chewing gum tenses the jaw and mouth. Yoga is about breathing,
and not about eating and chewing! Please, no gum chewing in
class.
